MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE DATA PROTECTION OFFICER

CONSULT

TO CO-OPERATE AND CONSULT WITH THE REGULATOR

The DPO will be the mediator between the ICO and the company; being able to speak directly to the ICO on behalf of your company and also consulting the other way if any changes to the law and acting as mediator. The DPO can also provide consultation on any changes to processes in the future to ensure consistant compliance.

MONITOR

TO MONITOR COMPLIANCE WITH LAW AND AUDITS OF DATA

There will be consistent checks made by the DPO to make sure processes are being followed at all times. In addition to this, any future systems will need to be compliant by default (in line with privacy by design). Privacy Impact Assessments (PIA’s) are an ongoing procedure that also will need thorough monitoring.

DEVELOP

TO DEVELOP AND OFFER TRAINING TO EMPLOYEES

The DPO will also provide and deliver training on an ongoing basis if needed, for new employees and as reminders. If there are specific areas that needed following up with individual employees the DPO can work with them to develop their knowledge and practical skills on site.

ADVISE

TO PROVIDE ADVICE ON OBLIGATIONS AND PIA'S

The DPO will be the mediator between the ICO and the company; being able to speak directly to the ICO on behalf of your company and also consulting the other way if any changes to the law and acting as mediator. The DPO can also provide consultation on any changes to processes in the future to ensure consistant compliance.

INFORM

TO INFORM THE CONTROLLER AND EMPLOYEES

The DPO will ensure that anyone who processes personal data knows their obligations, and will break down the law for each process into language and processes for everyone to fully understand.

LEAD

TO TAKE THE LEAD IN DEALING WITH GDPR REQUESTS

When customers contact the company to request any of their rights, for example a subject access request, the DPO will be the single point of contact and ensure a smooth process is delivered within GDPR framework.
