Change management is key to project success and leaders must secure buy-in across the organisation, especially for tech projects like AI. So, in this episode, we'll discuss how Finance leaders can gain team support for AI initiatives by fostering trust and clear communication. I’m Laura from Creative, and this is Dynamics Unwrapped.
Successful change management starts before you even start the project. Speaking to everyone from new hires to managers, to identify pain points and motivations and then addressing any common issues will streamline implementation and increase chances of success. For example, if invoicing is really time consuming, then AI Copilot can help by simplifying searches and your team would be more on board with this change than if you were to put AI into generating marketing text as this may not be relevant to them.
Also, AI often sparks job security concerns and it’s important to address this head-on. When introducing AI, reassure your team that its role is to enhance their work, not to replace them. Highlight AI's strengths, like speeding up data collection, while emphasising human decision-making's irreplaceable value. Making sure that your team feels valued and vital to your organisation is crucial for successful adoption of AI initiatives.
Lastly, ensure your team is well trained and maintain ongoing communication even after implementation. Ask them how they feel about using AI? Do they feel confident using it? Are they asking the right questions and providing good prompts to get the best out of AI? Strong communication starts with the leadership team and as long as you understand and address organisational needs, as well as ensure your team feel valued, then you're providing a solid foundation for successful change.
