Season 4, Episode 5: The impact of AI in your systems: Business Central Edition

So, to close out this series we’re going to talk to you about how AI can enhance your finance operations. You’ve all probably heard about Microsoft’s AI Copilot, but it’s integration into Dynamics 365 Business Central is what is transforming finance operations. Now its important to know that Microsoft are drip feeding this technology into the system so in this video, we’re going to highlight some of the functionality that has been rolled out and some functionality which is coming out in the near future. I’m Laura at Creative and this is Dynamics Unwrapped…

So, one of the first places that Microsoft have put Copilot into Business Central is in bank reconciliation. Previously, bank reconciliation could be done manually or automatically in Business Central, but the problem with automatic reconciliation was that if you had one transaction from your bank but in your system this was broken into let’s say five payments, then this wouldn’t have been picked up and you would have to match these manually. However, with Copilot, it will recognise both transactions and suggest that they’re to be reconciled therefore saving you a significant amount of time.

Another area where Copilot is being brought into the system is the chat function. So, if Julie in accounts needs to find an invoice that was sent to Robert at Alpine 3 weeks ago, then she can put this into the chat, and it will pull the invoice from the system. Again, this saves significant time which would otherwise be spent searching through the database.

Other areas where AI Copilot is going into Business Central which will enhance finance operations is the ability to map e-documents to purchase order lines, predict late customer payments so that you can plan accordingly, and generate descriptions for items. So all of this will save teams a significant amount of time which can be used for more important tasks as well as help streamline operations.

So, in this series we’ve discussed how finance leaders need to consider the impact AI will have on growth, change management, workforce strategy, risk management, and system integration in order to stay on top of the curve and remain competitive. Hopefully the tips shared have helped but as always if you want to know more be sure to get in touch, because that is Dynamics Series 4 Unwrapped…
